It seems that even the franchises that have been exclusive of certain platforms are looking for new horizons. This is the case of Yakuza, which has been known as Playstation exclusive since the first installment in the series was launched in 2005. This is why the announcement made by SEGA and Microsoft yesterday during the X019 was such a big surprise. Three different Yakuza games will be playable on Xbox One in early 2020. They are Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2. Not only they will be available on Microsoft's console, but the three games will also be included in the Game Pass.
Xbox One players will be able to experience the complete story of Kazuma Kiryu. Starting with his early days as a member of the Tojo Clan in Tokyo, he will then take the blame for a crime he did not commit and stay ten years in prison. But leaving everything behind will prove to be difficult, and he will end getting involved in clan fights again, having to travel to Osaka when the fragile peace between the Yakuza clans gets shattered due to the assassination of Clan Tojo's chairman.
Even though the games are going to be the same and those who have played the games may find the announcement uninteresting, this news opens up the possibility of the new chapter in the series being available on Microsoft's console too. As you probably know if you are one of the fans of the Yakuza series, SEGA announced Yakuza: Like a Dragon not too long ago and it may happen that the game is released on Xbox One too when it launches on 2020. The new game leaves behind the story of Kazuma Kiryu to focus on Ichiban Kasuga, so the new story may be a great starting point for players to get into the series.
