An enormous hit on the Nintendo Switch, Monster Hunter Rise is finally coming to the PC on January 12, 2022. With a more powerful platform on hand, one can expect some improvements to the game itself, and it seems Capcom won’t disappoint.
As shown in the Monster Hunter Rise demo, the PC port will feature 4k graphics, higher resolutions and framerates, and advanced graphics settings. It will also have voice chat, something that was sorely missing from the Switch version. The PC port will have optimized keyboard and mouse controls and let players change key bindings.
Gameplay for the PC port will remain largely the same, but with some important additions. For one, you have a new companion: the Palamute, a wolf-like creature you can ride and fight monsters with. The Palamute will let you zip across the world without exhausting your stamina.
Another addition is the Wirebug, a grappling tool that can launch you into the air like in the Batman: Arkham games. While you still can’t jump, the Wirebug adds some much-needed verticality to the game.
Finally, the Monster Hunter Rise PC port will have all content up to Ver.3.6.1 of the Switch version.
The port comes at a great time, what with the expansion Monster Hunter Rise: Sunbreak coming this summer to both PC and Switch.
