What is in Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1?

Konami’s revival of the Metal Gear Solid franchise has gotten the fandom abuzz with excitement. There are lots of unresolved questions revolving around Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater, but also some around Konami’s second announcement—that of the Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol.1. Today, Konami announced exactly what else is included in Volume 1.

In case you missed it, here is the MGS Delta: Snake Eater trailer again.

Plenty of Snake to go around

According to Konami, the MGS Master Collection Vol. 1 will also include the first two games of the franchise: Metal Gear and Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake. This means we’re getting the two eras of the Metal Gear franchise—the NES system games and the PlayStation 1-2 games, all in one bundle.

The original Metal Gear follows Solid Snake, an agent of Foxhound,  in his mission to stop the weapon Metal Gear, a creation of his mentor, Big Boss. In Metal Gear 2: Solid Snake, it is revealed that Big Boss that died in the previous game was a body double, and Snake has to face the real one in a climactic battle at Zanzibar Land.

Big Boss casts a long shadow across all the Metal Gear games, and appropriately, we get to see his origins in the upcoming remake of Snake Eater.

MGS Master Collection Vol. 1 begs the question—what comes next in Master Collection Vol.2? Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is a clear candidate, but another likely possibility is Metal Gear Solid: Peacewalker. Including them means we will be able to play both of them on the PS5.

We don’t have firm release dates for either game, but Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 is set to launch in Autumn this year. Keep an eye on our listings for the best prices for Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater as well as  Metal Gear Solid Master Collection Vol. 1 PS5 keys
