Warner Bros. Games reportedly cancels planned Hogwarts Legacy DLC

Bad news has suddenly dropped for Hogwarts Legacy fans—a major expansion for the game has reportedly been canceled, crushing hopes for new content. Hogwarts Legacy was one of the most successful game releases of 2023, selling over 34 million copies and receiving widespread critical acclaim.

To build on this success, Warner Bros. Games was allegedly planning a paid story expansion, expected to launch alongside a "Definitive Edition" of the game. However, according to a report from Bloomberg, the expansion has now been scrapped. The report claims the decision was made due to concerns that "the amount of content was not substantial enough to justify the price being considered."

Warner Bros. has faced a string of financial setbacks over the past year, including the cancellation of a planned Wonder Woman game and the shutdown of multiple studios, such as Monolith Productions, WB San Diego, and MultiVersus developer Player First Games. Earlier this year, the company also suffered rounds of layoffs, further indicating internal struggles.
