On the occasion of the 30th anniversary of the Warcraft franchise, Blizzard made lots of exciting announcements yesterday during the special Warcraft 30th Anniversary Direct stream. We already knew that there would be plenty of in-game events in World of Warcraft and Hearthstone with exclusive rewards but the event also left us with many novelties about the upcoming content coming to the Warcraft franchise and the release of two new games.
The most significant announcement made yesterday is about the original RTS series in the Warcraft franchise. Blizzard revealed brand-new remastered versions of the first two titles in the series. Even more, Warcraft I: Remastered and Warcraft II: Remastered are already available. This surprise release has been received with joy by the fans of the franchise, even though Warcraft III: Reforged disappointed everyone because of its poor performance and abundant problems. The remastered versions of Warcraft and Warcraft II seem to be in a much better state and offer a new look at the classic games with improved graphics, quality-of-life features, and other novelties. Also, Warcraft III: Reforged is back into the fray, and it has received a big update that promises to fix all of its issues. Blizzard has also released the Warcraft Remastered Battle Chest, a compilation that includes all three remasters, which is perfect for long-time fans of the series.
World of Warcraft was also present in yesterday's announcements. The popular MMORPG has its own anniversary events, but what really hyped the fans was the announcement of Mists of Pandaria Classic and the release date of the new expansion. The second chapter in the Worldsoul Saga will be revealed next summer. World of Warcraft: Midnight promises to significantly change the game by adding housing to it, a feature that the fans have been requesting since the game was released. The possibility of having your own house and decorating it as you please will be a reality when the expansion releases. You can also check a detailed roadmap for 2025 that reveals Blizzard's plans for its MMORPG.
Hearthstone was not forgotten in the event. The card game currently allows players to unlock special cards as part of an in-game event, but three future expansions coming next year were also announced. Into the Emerald Dream, The Shrouded City, and The Heroes of Time will bring a plethora of new cards and exciting gameplay mechanics, but before these arrive a Starcraft-themed mini-set will introduce iconic characters from the beloved franchise.
Warcraft stands pretty high among Blizzard's priorities for 2025, and the fans won't be disappointed with the upcoming content.
