This week's game Launches on PC, PS5, Xbox: July 2026 (Week 31)

This Week's Video Game Releases - July 2026 (Week 31)
Release date

July is going out with one heck of a gaming backlog. The final days of the month are bringing a surprisingly chunky selection of new releases, ranging from a full-blown remake of one of Xbox's most iconic adventures to cult RPGs, retro shoot-'em-ups, supernatural stories and even a certain group of dinosaur-hunting pups. In other words, there's something for practically everyone and probably not enough free time to play it all.

July 27 - August 2 releases

The week wastes absolutely no time bringing out the big guns. Halo: Campaign Evolved arrives on July 28, giving the original Halo: Combat Evolved a substantial modern makeover. Master Chief's first adventure has been rebuilt with Unreal Engine 5, bringing a fresh visual treatment to the classic campaign while keeping its familiar sci-fi DNA intact. The remake isn't simply a graphical spit-shine, either. It features three new campaign missions, including the Operation: METEORITE storyline, alongside four-player online co-op, split-screen multiplayer and cross-play. The Covenant may have seen this coming, but your backlog probably didn't.

Also, on July 28, Gothic Classic brings the beloved cult RPG to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S. If you've somehow managed to avoid getting lost in its famously rough-edged fantasy world until now, this is another chance to discover why Gothic has developed such a devoted following.

BLUE REFLECTION Quartet arrives on July 29, offering another helping of Gust's trademark combination of JRPG combat, supernatural happenings and character-focused storytelling. If mysterious powers, colourful characters and complicated feelings are your preferred RPG ingredients, this one should be on your radar.

Meanwhile, Dispatch finally expands its reach to Xbox Series X/S, giving Xbox players a chance to experience the narrative-driven adventure for themselves.

Then things take a sharp turn toward the undead with BloodRayne: Definitive Collection. The collection gathers the vampire-slaying action of the BloodRayne series into one convenient package, because apparently one supernatural killing spree simply wasn't enough.

And if you're after something a little more mysterious, Village in the Shade also arrives on July 29. It's the quieter member of Wednesday's release lineup — although "quiet" is often gaming's favourite way of saying, "Something is definitely lurking around that corner."

Kusan: City of Wolves arrives on July 30, bringing another action-packed adventure to the week's already busy lineup. It's joined by Truxton Extreme, which is here to remind everyone that the shoot-'em-up genre has never heard of the concept of taking it easy.

Then there's Culdcept The First, which continues the long-running card-and-board-game series for fans who prefer their strategic decisions to come with a healthy dose of chaos.

But the biggest nostalgia bomb of the day could belong to Xenoblade Chronicles 2, which arrives on Nintendo Switch 2. The beloved JRPG is getting a new lease on life on Nintendo's latest hardware, giving players another opportunity to dive into Alrest, meet its colourful cast and discover why "I'll just play for an hour" is one of the biggest lies ever told by a JRPG fan.

The Relic: First Guardian arrives on July 31, offering an action-focused fantasy adventure for anyone who'd rather spend the final day of the month swinging a weapon at monsters than wondering where their paycheck went.

Then comes PAW Patrol: Dino World, which combines everyone's favourite rescue pups with everyone's favourite prehistoric reptiles. Because apparently the only thing missing from the PAW Patrol formula was the possibility of being chased by a dinosaur.

Finally, Lootbound rounds off the week's releases. Details may be considerably less familiar than those of Halo or Xenoblade Chronicles 2, but that's part of the fun of a release week this packed: there's always a smaller game waiting to sneak into your backlog when you're not looking.

If this list leaves you staring blankly at your calendar wondering which game to play first, don't worry. Everyone else will be doing exactly the same thing. Remember that your favourite games are available at the cheapest price with our comparator.

Halo: Campaign Evolved is clearly the big draw of the week. It feels like everything else is going to be somewhat overshadowed by that release.

Switch 2 players are definitely going to have plenty to keep them busy this week. The Xenoblade collection is the kind of release that can easily provide hundreds of hours of entertainment. Between newcomers discovering the franchise and veterans eager to dive back into this world, it promises some great gaming sessions for quite some time. JRPG fans are truly spoiled.

If Halo does well, it'll be the talk of the week. But if Mistfall Hunter and The Relic also deliver, it could make for a very strong end to July.

Between Halo, The Relic, and Mistfall Hunter, there are too many interesting things to not end up with an even longer to-do list.

Halo Campaign Evolved is definitely the game that interests me the most this week. I'm now waiting to see the prices of the keys on different websites before making a decision, and I'm waiting for the first performance reviews of the PC version to see how it runs. That's what will allow me to choose between the PC and PS5 versions.

Halo on PlayStation is the main thing this week. First time the series is on a non-Microsoft platform. UE5 remake looks decent but the important part is having the original campaign on PS5 with co-op and crossplay for people who never played it.
