While Activision has been adventuring the boons and goods of Call of Duty: Black Ops 6 ahead of the upcoming release, Electronic Arts has remained silent about the Battlefield series. Battlefield 2042 is still in action although its final season kicked off earlier this year. However, it seems like EA wants the next title in the FPS series to be different or at least not like its predecessor. In a recent interview with IGN, Respawn co-founder Vince Zampella shared some details about the upcoming game. Perhaps, the most significant one is that the development team aims to make the new Battlefield more like Battlefield 3 and Battlefield 4. The series will return to its origins leaving aside the futuristic tech of 2042 and focusing on modern warfare.
This excessive hi-tech approach to the action in Battlefield 2042 was the turning point in the series for many players. Now EA aims to bring back the classic experience with a more contemporary setting. Also, it will also leave aside huge maps for 128 players and even specialists. Talking about the latter, Zampella confirmed that they definitely didn't work as intended in the last game so the series will return to the classic approach with classes.
"I don't know what the rationale was, but for me, it's like the team tried something new. You have to applaud that effort. Not everybody liked it, but you got to try things. It didn't work. It didn't fit. Specialists will not be coming back. So classes are kind of at the core of Battlefield, and we're going back to that."
Those changes are enough to catch the eye of many Battlefield veterans. However, the community will also welcome other changes that go in the line of keeping the original spirit of the series, and the studio is willing to follow that path, at least, according to Zampella.
"If you look back to the peak or the pinnacle of Battlefield, it's that Battlefield 3... Battlefield 4 era where everything was modern, and I think we have to get back to the core of what Battlefield is and do that amazingly well, and then we'll see where it goes from there."
If anything, Zampella's words have been enough to raise the interest of those who lost faith in the future of Battlefield. Hopefully, EA will be able to share more details about the upcoming game soon, but until that happens the fans should stick to Battlefield 2042 which is available at the best price with our comparator.
