The latest Nvidia app is creating performance problems for GeForce users

The Nvidia App, launched in November this year, is intended to replace both GeForce Experience and the Nvidia Control Panel. It aims to streamline the management of GeForce GPUs for users in a more intuitive manner. This application allows users to update GPU drivers, optimize game settings, and control software options from a single location. However, instead of being helpful, the app has introduced significant issues for many users.

Prior to its official release, Nvidia conducted an open beta of the app. During this testing period, players reported various performance-related problems. One Reddit user noted that activating the app’s overlay resulted in their FPS being halved and also led to input delays, while another user mentioned their games became sluggish. A Minecraft player reported a drop in FPS from 110 to 60 after installing the application. These problems negatively impacted the gaming experience for numerous players, and even though the app's full version has been released, many continue to experience similar issues.

Users are still facing performance-related challenges even with the full version of the Nvidia App. A user named Sebastian Castellanos recently shared on X about how the app degraded the performance of games like Black Myth: Wukong and The Talos Principle 2, both developed with Unreal Engine 5. While using the Nvidia App, Castellanos reported achieving 184 FPS in Black Myth: Wukong and 192 FPS in The Talos Principle 2, which increased to 225 and 231, respectively, after the application was uninstalled. Issues with poor frametimes suggest choppy gameplay and frequent stuttering.

This claim is further supported by a comment from mpr_reviews, who observed a 15% drop in performance in Black Myth: Wukong while utilizing the 566.36 driver with the Nvidia App installed. Other users responded to Castellanos's post sharing similar grievances. One individual stated they experienced a loss of 80 FPS in Marvel Rivals due to the app. Another reported a 15% decrease in game performance after enabling the Nvidia Overlay. So far, Nvidia has not responded to these issues or confirmed if they are addressing them. For now, gamers are left contemplating whether to continue using the Nvidia App or to uninstall it for better game performance.

If you've experienced performance problems following the installation of the Nvidia App, consider uninstalling it to determine if that resolves the issue. Additionally, it may be beneficial to avoid using the app's overlay feature, as it appears to be a frequent source of FPS declines.
