Yesterday's Xbox Partner Preview event left us with many announcements for upcoming releases but one of the most significant ones was Subnautica 2. The undersea exploration and survival adventure released by Unknown Worlds Entertainment in 2018 will soon have a sequel that will allow players to delve beneath the surface of the ocean once more. Subnautica allows you to immerse into an epic exploration adventure as the lone survivor of a spaceship that crashed on an alien planet whose surface is covered by water. The original game had a big success and caught the eye of a large community that loved the experience and even favoured the release of an expansion, Subnautica: Below Zero.
The sequel will let you explore beyond Planet 4546B, according to the studio's community manager Donya Abramo.
“Whether you’re bringing the experience of your previous adventures with you, or are new to the Subnautica games, you’ll get to explore lush new environments, encounter fascinating creatures around every corner, and uncover the secrets at the core of this mysterious planet. But as familiar as things might seem to seasoned players at first glance, Subnautica 2 will offer new and unique experiences that will keep you on your… fins.”
Perhaps, the most significant addition that Subnautica 2 will make to the franchise is a cooperative multiplayer mode for up to four players that will allow you to share your underwater adventure for the first time. This new feature opens the door to new types of interaction in the game but you will always have the option to play solo if you prefer to enjoy the vastness of the new scenarios by yourself.
The release of Subnautica 2 is scheduled for 2025 on Xbox Series X/S and Windows PC the Xbox Game Preview program. The game will also be available via Xbox Game Pass on day one. As usual, if you want to keep track of the best prices to preorder Subnautica 2, our comparator will offer you the best deals ahead of the release date.
