Star Wars Outlaws has gone Gold

August 30 is the release date appointed for Star Wars Outlaws, the upcoming new video game inspired by the popular sci-fi franchise created by George Lucas. It will be the first important Star Wars game not released by Electronic Arts in a long while since the company owned the rights to do it exclusively for many years. Big titles like Star Wars Battlefront II and Star Wars Jedi: Survivor were created under EA guidance, but Ubisoft will now offer its own perspective of the sprawling Star Wars universe with a video game focused on the lowest scum of the galaxy, the scoundrels.

Star Wars Outlaws was announced last year and it follows the adventures of Kay Vess, a scoundrel looking to carve her own path across the galaxy. The game is set between the events of The Empire Strikes Back and Return of the Jedi, offering a scenario that is unexplored. Instead of focusing on Sith and Jedis, Star Wars Outlaws will add its own flavour with a story that will let you delve into an original scoundrel story while exploring iconic locations from the Star Wars saga.

Ready to be released

According to Ubisoft, Star Wars Outlaws has achieved Gold status, which only means that it's ready to be mass-produced and released when the appointed time comes. Of course, the game will probably receive more updates to fix bugs or add extra content later. After all, this is quite an ambitious project for Ubisoft, which potentially could secure for itself an important foothold in one of the most popular video game franchises ever created.
