He’s back to protect the innocent, though a little later than expected. In their recent Nacon Connect Presentation, developer Teyon introduced a new trailer for Robocop: Rogue City and it’s probably one of the most 80s things you’ll see. They also announced that the game will now launch in September instead of the original June release window. You can check their hyper-violent trailer here:
You play the titular Robocop himself, Officer Alex Murphy, as he attempts to clean up the streets of Detroit one bullet-riddled criminal at a time. What’s great is that we hear the original actor, Peter Weller, voicing the iconic cyborg, and he doesn’t miss a beat—he brings Robocop back to life flawlessly.
What’s also wonderful about the game is that it’s entirely faithful to the UI of the original movie. We see Robocop’s targeting grid, his mission briefings from his HUD, and likely his directives as well. We also see him dust off hoodlums with his trust Auto 9 handgun, incorporating a fancy twirl just like in the movies.
But this game’s not a straight-up shooter. You can do actual police work here, investigating crime scenes, interrogating criminals, obtaining warrants, and even writing parking tickets. Of course, when it’s time for action, the game doesn’t shirk from ultra-violence as you see thugs explode into a red mist when you shoot them with your handgun or semi-automatic rifle.
Apart from Robocop, four other games were featured in Nacon Connect. The first is Ad Infinitum, a World War I-era psychological horror game. Next is Gangs of Sherwood, a 3rd-person multiplayer featuring the reimagined world of Robin Hood. Ravenswatch is another roguelike action game that features characters from fables fighting in a dark fantasy world. Finally, we also get a look at The Lord of the Rings: Gollum, which is coming this July.
RoboCop: Rogue City is set to launch in September for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. You can check out a RoboCop: Rogue City PS5 key with our comparator.
