Capcom took a completely new approach to the Resident Evil series with the addition of a multiplayer mode when Resident Evil 3 was released. We thought that Resident Evil: Resistance was meant to be a standalone game that would put you in the shoes of a group of survivors trapped in an isolated facility by an evil mastermind. The game was announced as a multiplayer cooperative asymmetrical experience in which survivors would have to escape from their imprisonment before another player in the role of the evil mastermind could stop them. Resident Evil: Resistance had a very warm welcome from the players but it was finally released as an addition to Resident Evil 3 remake. The same is happening with Resident Evil RE: Verse, which will be an additional gameplay mode for the upcoming Resident Evil Village.
In Resident Evil RE: Verse, a group of players will fight to the death against each other in 5-minute matches. You will choose a character and then proceed to explore a certain location, trying to find weapons to defeat your enemies while keeping yourself alive, and earning points in the process. But there is more beyond a simple shootout in Resident Evil: RE: Verse. Each time a player dies it will return to the game transformed into a powerful biological weapon that will try to claim revenge.
