Path of Exile 2 is huge in Early Access

Path of Exile 2 has a long way ahead until its official release date but the game is currently available in Early Access. The game will be free to play when its final version is released. However, you need to buy one of the Path of Exile 2 Supporter Packs if you want to play the game already. Even though the game will be completely free in the future, there is a huge number of players that have opted to pay to play the game now. There were over 500,000 concurrent players in the game hours after the game entered Early Access, and many more were playing via other platforms - the game has surpassed over 1 million key redemptions already. Years of waiting for the new ARPG to be released have paid off, as the game delivers an impressive gameplay experience even in its current state.

It's not Diablo 4

There's always been a certain controversy when comparing the games in the Diablo series to the first Path of Exile. Despite both offering a unique ARPG experience that pits you against hordes of enemies and challenging bosses in a sprawling fantasy world, they are significantly different in many aspects of gameplay. The same happens to Path of Exite 2 and Diablo 4. Each game's approach to the genre is totally different and they both are valid. However, if we talk about the overall reception added to the fact that the game will be free to play in the future, Grinding Gear Games' creation seems to be ahead of Blizzard's. Both are compatible, of course, but the impressive amount of possible skill combinations and character builds alongside gameplay that is vaguely reminiscent of Dark Souls seem to offer a bit more to the players looking for some depth in Path of Exile 2.

It's no wonder that a huge community was eager to delve into Path of Exile 2 as soon as it was available. The added cost didn't seem to be a problem for all those who have spent many hours in the game already, despite the fact that the final version may differ from the current one. The competition between Path of Exile 2 and Diablo 4 won't really begin until the final version of PoE2 is released, but so far, the game is showing enough potential to give Blizzard's creation a run for its money.
