Civilization VI launch trailer is out!
Oct 18, 2017, 10:49 AM Fyra Frost
Not many strategy franchises have managed to release six different titles over the years, but Civilization has managed to sucessfully reinvent itself quite a few times already. The 15 awards won during E3 2016, including “Best Strategy Game” and “Best PC Game” demonstrate that the saga is still fresh and quite appealing to the public 25 years after the launch of its first title in 1991. 2K Games and Firaxis Games have released the launch trailer for this new installment of Sid Meier’s series that you can watch below: Civilization VI Launch Trailer – International Version Among the interesting new features introduced in the game, it is to be noted the possibility of expanding cities so they occupy several tiles, allowing you to take full advantage of the surrounding terrain. Also, you will be able to assign secondary units like artillery to other combat units and merge a few units of the same type into a more powerful “corps” version, opening a new layer of tactical options in combat. If you add to that a revamped diplomacy system and new multiplayer scenarios designed to be finished in a single session, you end with a more complete game that can even be enjoyed if you do not have that much time to play. Civilization VI is up for release in just a few days, on October 21th. So you won’t have to wait too much longer to play one of the best turn based strategy series of all times once again. Obsidian’s upcoming RPG arrives next month
Oct 14, 2017, 5:43 PM Fyra Frost
Obsidian Entertainment has proved that isometric RPGs are not dead or something from the past. They managed to crowfund the award-winning Pillars of Eternity through Kickstarter and release an excellent RPG that all the fans of classics like Baldur’s Gate or Neverwinter Nights would love. Their new project Tyranny is going to put us on an unusual position when it comes to fantasy roleplaying. We are not going to be the heroes trying to save the world anymore. The bad guys already won and controls the world. We are on his side and we love it. In words of the game’s lead producer, Matthew Singh, “Not only were you on their side, you were actually one of their leaders. You don’t start out as your average farmboy that’s picked up a rusty dagger for the first time, murdering rats in a sewer. You start this game with a position of authority.” Tyranny – “Fatebinder” – Release Date Reveal Trailer In Tyranny we will play as a high-ranking official working for Kyros the Overlord and we will be in charge of helping him to consolidate his power and dominion over the land by whatever means we deem necessary. That doesn’t mean that we must become ruthless bastards with a tendency to kill everyone we want to on a whim, even though it’s probably going to be possible to do that. The game world will react to your choices and adapt its narrative to your actions no matter what those are, so sometimes dialoguing and thinking about the possible reprecussions of our actions may be the most suitable things for our plans. This time you are definitely not going to be punished for whatever your decide, but the world is a place where morality is far more complex than deciding between black and white. If you want to experience this different approach to a fantasy world, Tyranny is scheudled for release November 10th on PC, Mac and Linux. It offers to quench the thirst for power of all those that are eager to join the dark side and, like in Dungeon Keeper 2, it will demonstrate that sometimes It’s Good to be Bad! Far Cry Primal officially announced
Oct 6, 2017, 5:10 PM Fyra Frost
A few days ago rumors about a new game with the title of Far Cry Primal started, but Ubisoft never confirmed if it was a compilation pack of the old Far Cry series or something else. Today, after teasing pictures of a caveman painting on a rock wall for a few hours on their youtube channel, they have officially announced the release of a new action game, trailer included. Far Cry Primal – Official Reveal Trailer Quite surprinsingly Ubisoft seems to be reinventing the series and takes the action thousands of years back in time, going to the roots of humans fighting for survival during Stone Age. It’s a bit of a drastic change indeed: no guns, no rockets, no evil dictator to fight against… “Far Cry usually puts you at the edge of the known world, in a beautiful, lawless, and savage frontier. The Stone Age is, in a way, the very first frontier for humankind; it’s the time when humans put a stick in the ground and claimed land for their own, the time when we started climbing the food chain. That came with conflict, against other humans of course, but also against nature itself,” says Far Cry Primal creative director, Jean-Christophe Guyot. Players will play as Takkar, the last surviving member of a hunting group that arrives in an area called Oros with the only goal of survival. “They will meet a cast of memorable characters who will help them push back and tame the dangers of the wild. Players will journey as the first human to tame the wilderness and rise above extinction. Along the way, they will have to craft weapons and tools partly from the bones of slain beasts, hunt for food, master fire, fend off fierce predators and face off agains other tribes to conquer Oros,” Ubisoft explains. We don’t know if this kind of change in the franchise is what the fans were looking for, but Ubisoft Montreal seems to be quite confident about it’s possibilities. We hope that they are not wrong and that this new game will be at least as good as Far Cry 4. It’s been already confirmed that Far Cry Primal is scheudled for launch on 23 February 2016 for Playstation 4 and Xbox One, with a release for PC about a month later. The Old Hunters: 2 DLC in one for Bloodborne
Sep 18, 2017, 7:57 PM Fyra Frost
Bloodborne has become one of the greastest hits for Playstation 4 since the next generation console from Sony was released to the market. No big surprise for an action roleplaying game acclaimed by players and critic that follows the style of their developers, the creators of the Souls series. From Software will release an expansion for their PS4 exclusive title on November this year. Bloodborne: The Old Hunters include a new array of weapons for the Hunter to use, like a curved edge that can transform into a deadly bow or a whip that converts into a katana. Throw into the mix new nightmarish locations where the ancient hunters of Yharnham have been trapped and a story that builds on the original one. You will get a very nice expansion designed to add about 8 hours of gameplay to the adventure. Bloodborne The Old Hunters – Expansion DLC Trailer What we didn’t know about the expansion is that it was originally designed as two different DLC and that there is no more content on the works for the game. As revealed today during Tokyo Game Show: “We were originally planning on doing two sets of DLC. It was decided that with one set, we’d be able to do more with it, and have more volume for players to play with. As of right now, we have no plans for any more DLC,” said Masaaki Yamagiwa, Sony Japan’s producer for Bloodborne. We don’t know if From Software is just focusing on the developement and launch of Dark Souls 3, but it saddens us a bit to hear that there won’t be more for such a good game after this expansion. Maybe a sequel could be possible in the future? Time will tell The post The Old Hunters: 2 DLC in one for Bloodborne appeared first on .

Watch Dwarfs VS Greenskin battle in Total War: Warhammer
Sep 17, 2017, 7:57 PM Fyra Frost
Creative Assembly is working hard to make the new strategy title of the Total War franchise worth praising. This is the first time they move out of familiar ground and embark themselves in a project that is based on a fantasy world. In this case, it´s the world of WARHAMMER Fantasy Battles, and as you can see in their new “Let’s Play” video the game looks quite amazing considering it’s pre-alpha footage. The 16 mins video features one of the early quest battles in Total War: Warhammer, where a Dwarfen army led by High King Thorgrim Grudgebearer himself gets ambushed by Greenskin forces as they patrol the dangerous underground tunnels of the Underway. As most of Warhammer fans should know, the Dwarfs are a fanstastic defensive force. Heavily armored and having access to lots of guns and artillery units, they are a force to be feared if you have to attack them. They bombard you relentlessly while you are getting close and once you charge them you have to face tough as nails warriors. But surviving a battle where you are getting assaulted by a green tide of goblins from all sides may prove quite a difficult task. Total War: WARHAMMER Gameplay Video – Dwarfs Let’s Play It’s definitely quite an epic gameplay for a game that it still in early stages of developement, also being able to reflect with great fidelity the original tabletop game. If you were to imagine how a Warhammer battle would look in a videogame it wouldn’t be too far from what you see on that video. We can’t wait to see the finished product, but we will have to wait until a date yet to be confirmed for the release during 2016. Star Wars: Battlefront’s new multiplayer mode announced
Sep 9, 2017, 7:09 PM Fyra Frost
Taking part in battles between the Rebel Alliance and the Empire is much more closer with Star Wars Battlefront. Electronic Arts is putting a great effort in making that experience awesome for us and now has introduced a new multiplayer mode for it’s upcoming FPS title based on the Star Wars universe. Along with Survival, Supremacy, Fighter Squadron and Blast, Drop Zone will be the fifth multiplayer mode for the game. This new mode will allow us to battle for the control of drop pods in a “King of the Hill” style. The matches will face two team of 8 members on the surface of planets like Endor, Tatooine, Sullust or Hoth, that many will find familiar.   Star Wars Battlefront: Drop Zone mode The winning mechanic is the usual on those type of matches. Several pods are scattered through the scenario. Both teams aim to control 5 of them to win inmediately. If that doesn’t happen, the team that controls more pods after the 10 minutes time limit for the match expires wins. Getting to an area where a pod is dropped will trigger a small claiming timer. To make things even more interesting, if you stay around long enough after a drop pod is claimed you get a chance to get power-up items from it. Risk VS Reward. It may sound easy to achieve, but consider that pods drop progressively and that even if your team manages to claim one you still have to defend it. That might prove harder than expected, since staying still in a particular area leaves you vulnerable to big area of effect attacks like Orbital Strikes. As Lead Level Designer Dennis Brännvall explains, “This goes hand in hand with our design philosophy behind many of the game modes in Star Wars Battlefront. We’re promoting the idea of a fast, action-packed game where you need to be mobile and think on your feet. Camping doesn’t really pay off.” Star Wars Battlefront is confirmed for release on November 17 for PC, Xbox One and Playstation 4. The beta phase will start early October this year. EVE Online will become Free-To-Play
Aug 31, 2017, 5:09 PM Fyra Frost
Developer CCP Games has announced an unexpected change of business model for their MMORPG EVE Online. A new feature called Clone States will be implemented in November, and it will offer players the possibility of experiencing the game for free instead of having to pay a monthly subscription, like during the last 13 years. “We know that the mandatory monthly subscription is a big barrier for new players. It’s also one of our most common cancellation reasons for those who leave EVE. At the same time, EVE was very much designed as a subscription game from the start, and it has been a challenge to find a way to change that without also messing with the fundamentals that we really love about the EVE,” explained Andie Nordgren, executive producer of Eve Online. EVE Online – Introducing Clone States Eve Online players will basically be split into two types: Alpha Clones and Omega Clones. That is, the ones that do not pay a subscription and the ones paying one. There won’t be many changes for the later ones, still having unlimited access to skill progression and rapid skill training. On the other side, Alpha Clones will be limited to specific sets of skills and their training rate will be slower, but they will also have unlimited access to industry, trading and exploration skills. If you have never tried EVE Online or if you are already playing and are worried about the imact that a big a mount of players joining the game would have in the game, you can find more information reading the developer post about Clone States in CCP website.
