The hype surrounding Lies of P: Overture is through the roof, as fans eagerly anticipate how the DLC will expand the game's story. Ever since the base game’s final cutscene teased a potential future storyline, speculation has been rampant about how the DLC will tie into it.
In recent interviews, Lies of P game director Jiwon Choi shared more details about the upcoming expansion, revealing that it will take experienced players approximately 15 to 20 hours to complete. However, one major revelation has surprised fans—Lies of P: Overture’s story will not be connected to the final cutscene of the base game.
Speaking to IGN, Choi confirmed that Lies of P: Overture will not directly follow the events teased in Lies of P's post-credits scene, stating, “Please stay tuned for additional announcements in the future.”
Additionally, in an interview with Eurogamer, Choi explained that the DLC content will integrate into the base game around Chapter 9 rather than serving as a direct sequel. Instead of continuing the main story’s timeline, Lies of P: Overture will act as an expansion of the existing narrative, creating a more complete version of Lies of P. While the DLC will function as a prequel in some aspects, it will still introduce exciting new gameplay elements, including bows and claws, as seen in the trailer.
Choi also noted that developing Lies of P: Overture gave the team the opportunity to incorporate story elements they were unable to include in the base game due to their focus on delivering a polished initial release.
With Lies of P 2 already confirmed by Neowiz, it seems likely that the final cutscene teased in the base game will be relevant to the sequel rather than the DLC. This aligns with the approach of FromSoftware’s Soulsborne games, where DLCs often explore past events rather than expanding the main story’s conclusion.
