Microsoft Flight Simulator takes you to Oceania and Antarctica

The world of Microsoft Flight Simulator just got a whole lot bigger with its latest update. World Update XIII adds “Polynesia (Hawaii and Easter Island), Melanesia (Fiji, New Caledonia, New Guinea, Indonesia’s West Papua, and the Solomon Islands), the Galapagos Islands and key regions of Antarctica, notably the Antarctic Peninsula.” Check out the World Update XIII trailer here:

Wide, wide world

As you may know, Microsoft Flight Simulator replicates the real world through the combined use of “aerial photographs, satellite imagery, and digital elevation modeling data.” In all, the World Update provides 13 countries and 28 non-sovereign territories, including a whopping 150 points of interest. You’ll have a grand time visiting places like the Moai Statues on Easter Island, the Aitutaki Lagoon Island Resort, The Cook Islands, and the Four Seasons Bora Bora Resorts in French Polynesia, Bora-Bora, all from the comfort of your home. You can check out the full list at the Microsoft Flight Simulator website.

There’s more—what good is Flight Simulator without airports to practice perfect landings? The update includes several handmade airports such as the dirt airstrips of Papua New Guinea, Mataveri International Airport on Easter Island, Bora Bora Airport and Moorea Airpot in French Polynesia, Hawaii's Kona International Airport, and Nusatupe Airport on the Solomon Islands.

And if your travels take you to the Antarctic, there are three research bases for you to see: USA’s McMurdo Station and New Zealand’s Scott Base on Ross Island, and; Australia’s Davis Station on Princess Elizabeth Land.

Finally, the update includes five new discovery flights, three landing challenges, three bush trips, and a host of bug fixes.

World Update XIII can be downloaded today on Xbox and PC. For the base game, you can get a Microsoft Flight Simulator Xbox code at the best price from our comparator.
