Released just five months ago, Metaphor: ReFantazio has already become Atlus' fastest-selling title ever. In a recent interview with 4Gamer, director and creative producer Katsura Hashino spoke about the success. "Even as a developer, I believe that there is much merit in each player being able to enjoy the game in their preferred environment, and I’m glad that we were able to accomplish that," Hashino stated.

Hashino also emphasized the importance of protecting players' first-time experiences. He acknowledged that releasing the PC version alongside consoles helps avoid spoilers, allowing more players to enjoy the story fresh without having it ruined online. Metaphor: ReFantazio marks the first Hashino-led title to have a simultaneous worldwide release across consoles and PC — a big move for Atlus.
