Intel enhances its new ARC B-Series GPUs with the introduction of XeSS 2

Following the announcement of its Battlemage GPUs, Intel has introduced the latest iteration of XeSS, known as XeSS 2. This version will incorporate XeSS Super Resolution, XeSS Frame Generation, and Xe Low Latency. Moreover, Intel has shared the first set of games that will utilize XeSS 2. Let's delve deeper into Intel's announcements.

First, let's discuss Battlemage. The release dates for the Arc B580 and Arc B570 are set for December 13th and January 16th, respectively. Both GPUs will offer support for a PCIe 4.0 x8 interface and DisplayPort 2.1, in addition to the new XeSS 2 technology. The B580 model will feature 12GB of GDDR6 memory connected via a 192-bit memory bus. It will be capable of boosting up to 2.67GHz, require 190W of power, and be priced at $249. Conversely, the B570 will include 10GB of GDDR6 across a 160-bit memory bus, boost up to 2.6GHz, need 150W, and retail for $219.

Intel asserts that the Arc B580 will outperform both its NVIDIA and AMD rivals regarding price and performance, at least concerning their current-generation GPUs. For the offered price, the Arc B580 seems like an outstanding GPU. It boasts 12GB of GDDR6, whereas NVIDIA still presents GPUs equipped with just 8GB of VRAM. This puts tremendous pressure on the green team.

Concerning Intel XeSS 2, the blue team has announced that initial games supporting it will include Assassin’s Creed Shadows, Robocop: Rogue City, F1 24, Dying Light 2, among others. Additionally, in contrast to the way DLSS 3 Frame Generation was available at its launch, XeSS 2 Frame Generation will also support earlier Arc GPUs. In other words, it will not be limited to the Battlemage GPUs.

This is certainly exciting news for budget-conscious PC gamers. Let's hope that the drivers will be more stable this time and that we won't experience another "Alchemist" scenario. Furthermore, it’s crucial for PC gamers to engage this time and ensure that Battlemage doesn’t turn into another disappointment for the blue team!
