Statistics matter, and it's more beneficial for Microsoft to release its titles across a wider range of platforms in order to increase sales. The company earns more from selling games than from producing and selling consoles, and the recent investment in buying renowned development studios will prove to be more profitable the more games are sold. After all, the path to success could just be rather simple maths and focusing on making good games instead of forcing players to buy a console that they do not like. In any case, Sony has probably taken note of this and may react in the future.
