Although Creative Assembly is more known for its strategy videogames, namely, the Total War series, the studio has delved into other fields with great success. Alien: Isolation became a cult game for the fans of the survival-horror genre soon after its release in 2014. The key to its success was the exciting experience it offers, which follows the endeavors of Amanda Ripley as she tries to find the cause of her mother's disappearance. She finds herself trapped in an isolated space station while hunted down by Xenomorphs.
Creative Assembly takes you back to space but in a completely different scenario with its new game, which was announced yesterday. Rather than a survival horror adventure, Hyenas is a thrilling tactical first-person shooter full of action set in a completely different universe. In the game, billionaires have managed to get to Mars, destroying Earth in the process. But they miss our planet and its commodities, so they send ships heavily guarded by mercenaries to collect goods from the remains of their past home. Of course, they are not the only ones that survived, and groups of scavengers and pirates known as Hyenas are very interested in assaulting these ships to steal their valuable cargo.
Hyenas pits five teams of three players against each other in exciting battles where the last group standing takes it all. The battles take place inside the huge spaceships that transport goods to Mars under zero-gravity conditions. The game is in an early stage of development, but you can sign up to participate in the alpha testing if you have a Steam account in Europe or North America.
Along with the game's announcement, Creative Assembly has also revealed the system requirements to play Hyenas on PC at this stage, which are rather steep at the moment.
