Less than ten days ago, Hitman 3, the last installment in the World of Assassination trilogy, was released. The game has been widely anticipated by many players since it was announced months ago. Despite the fact that Hitman 3 experienced some problems prior to launch, particularly due to the Epic Games Store exclusivity on PC and the unlocking issues that this may have caused for Hitman and Hitman 2 content in the game, it has finally been launched with great success.
Not only Hitman 3 has a score of 87 on Metacritic, but it also appears to be a commercial success according to IO Interactive CEO Hakan Abrak, as he reveals in an interview with GameIndustry.biz:
It has been a labor of love between our fans and everyone at the studio. As the developer and publisher, we are immensely proud that we can say Hitman 3 is already profitable. We have recouped the total project costs in less than a week. That puts us in a really good place and allows us to confidently move forward with our ambitious plans for future projects.
Hitman 3's sales number is not yet known but given these statements, there is no doubt that it is doing very well. Regarding the future projects mentioned by Hakan Abrak, we already know that he is not talking about the Hitman series. Recently, we learned that the series was going to be put aside for a while and that the studio would focus on other projects, including Project 007, an upcoming James Bond game. But it looks like IO has even bigger ambitions as recently published job offers have revealed that another game is in development. Abrak also said they will be opening a new studio in Sweden, doubling the number of employees in the process.
While waiting to find out what are these great projects that IO Interactive has in store for us, you can have fun by playing Hitman 3, which you can find at the best price on our comparator.
