Grand Theft Auto V on PC will receive a free update on March 4 from Rockstar Games, bringing the game on computers to the same level as the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S versions. The new version, expected to launch for Steam and Epic Games Store users, will include updated graphics, animal-related content, and new vehicles from Hao's Special Works.
All players who own the game on PC will get the new version at no cost and will be able to transfer their progress in both the story mode and GTA Online. The minor caveat is that this enhanced edition of GTA V will come with new PC system requirements.
Visually, Grand Theft Auto V will feature improved graphics options, including support for higher resolutions and frame rates using new Ray Tracing technologies for global illumination, ambient occlusion, shadows, and reflections. There will also be support for AI-powered performance-boosting technologies like Nvidia DLSS3 or AMD FSR 1 and FSR 3, along with faster loading times through SSD storage and DirectStorage.
Among other changes, the game will support the GTA+ subscription service, new anti-cheat protections, and proactive voice chat moderation. Players can also use the PS5 DualSense controller on PC with features like adaptive triggers.
Grand Theft Auto V on PC is getting a free upgrade on March 4 with features previously only available in the PS5 and Xbox Series X|S versions of GTA Online.

In terms of gameplay, users will gain access to Hao's Special Works within the LS Car Meet, including five cars previously exclusive to PS5, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series S, such as the Coil Cyclone II, Imponte Arbiter GT, Karin S95, Pegassi Weaponized Ignus, and Pfister Astron Custom. Other existing vehicles in the game will also be eligible for new performance upgrades, including the Bravado Banshee and Grotti Turismo Classic, among others. Hao's workshop will also offer activities like Premium Test Vehicles, HSW Races, and Time Trial Challenges.
The Grand Theft Auto V update comes at an interesting time, proving that Rockstar continues to support the game even with the upcoming Grand Theft Auto VI. The company assures that players with older PCs can still run the game, even if they do not meet the new minimum requirements. However, it also clarifies that players with the older version of GTA V on PC won't be able to play with those who update to the new version when it launches on March 4.
