God of War is in a winning streak after the recent 19th Annual Game Developers Choice Awards. Sony’s PS4 must still be in heaven with another major award on the shelves. To date, God of War already has three Game of the Year awards. The first was granted back in December’s The Game Awards and the second arrived in February’s DICE Awards. In today’s GDC Awards, God of War did beat the other five honourable mentions in the Game of the Year category. Those games included Marvel’s Spiderman, Red Dead Redemption 2, Celeste, and Return of the Obra Dinn.
God of War explores the story of the immortal God Kratos, a father who is teaching his son to survive the brutal world where they live. The game features a mature narrative, epic gameplay, and stunning visuals, so it´s not a surprise that it won the award. Mountain’s Florence took home two awards, the Best Debut and the Best Mobile Game. Florence has a beautiful and clever interactive story that represents all the stages of a love story from birth to the end. Beat Games’ Best Saber also won two awards, the Best VR/AR Game and the Audience Award. This is a VR rhythm game where players use motion controllers to slice blocks. It’s an exciting work-out if I may say so myself. The Game Developers Choice Awards gives honor to the best games of the year. The winners are selected by an invitation-only organization composed of today's leading game creators across industries. Aside from games, GDCA also honors individuals who have made their mark in the gaming community and brought the art further. In this year’s GDCA, it could be said that the Indie games did extremely well if you compare them to their triple-A competitors. Read further for the full list of the winners.
