We talked about it not too long ago in a previous article, with the release of Gears 5 approaching fast it is time for the beta and the technical testing. Last weekend there was already the first Versus Tech Test. However, this beta phase was not available for all players. To participate, you had to have an Xbox Game Pass subscription or obtain a code by pre-ordering the game. The scenario was supposed to be the same for the second phase that takes place this weekend, at least that was what we could read on the dedicated page of the official website, but the plans have visibly changed. A tweet published yesterday on the official Gears of War account announces that the Versus Tech Test beginning today at 19h CEST and ending on July 29 would be open to more players. In addition to players with the Xbox Game Pass and those who have pre-ordered Gears 5, all players with an Xbox Live Gold membership will be able to test the game for two days.
We’re opening up this weekend’s #Gears5 Tech Test to ALL Xbox Live Gold Members with pre-download available right now!
Play between 5:30pm - 6:30pm PT tomorrow to help us stress test our servers and you'll also earn an exclusive #Gears5 Blood Spray! https://t.co/dpuf2frI6B pic.twitter.com/SVZaDVlRlq — Gears of War (@GearsofWar) July 25, 2019
But that's not all. For those who are not afraid to go to bed late (or early depending on your point of view), a live stream with the developers will take place at 1:15 am CEST tonight. It was announced on twitter that classificatory modes would be in the spotlight and developers would answer questions from players during the stream. And if you are not sleeping yet, you can take part in a stress test that will take place from 2:30 am CEST to 3:30 am CEST. In order to encourage players to participate in this stress test and also to thank them, anyone who finishes at least a match during this time will win an exclusive item, the Wreath Bloodspray. As a reminder, during this weekend you can try the Escalation mode, King of the Hill, and Arcade modes, but also Bootcamp, and Tour of Duty.
Those who do not have the chance to participate in the Versus Tech Test won't have to wait for very long to play Gears 5, since the game will be released on September 10 on PC and Xbox One. You can also check our comparator to find the game at the best price.
