Building on the significant success of Frostpunk, developer 11 bit studios will release its sequel this month. Frostpunk 2 promises to be another apocalyptic survival experience in the shape of a city builder, but it will focus on the next step in the chain of events that players could experience in the first title. With the devastating effects of the planet freezing still in their minds, the survivors have now to deal with new threats that will put your management skills and decision-making to the test in a new experience.

The destiny of the city will lie in your hands once more in Frostpunk 2, but this time the game will introduce a series of novelties and exciting mechanics that will make it even more challenging. From the graphics created with Unreal Engine to the introduction of new gameplay mechanics, the game aims to take the experience to the next level. For example, several factions have risen inside the city, each with its own agenda. Having to find a balance between them and your decisions will prove to be more complicated than ever.

Frostpunk 2 introduces new ways of immersing in its universe beyond the campaign, with a sandbox mode called Utopia Builder that is free from the constrictions of the story. Also, 11 bit studios has confirmed that the game will officially support modding with the announcement of Frostkit, the official modding tool for Frostpunk 2.

"With the FrostKit you will be able to create custom maps, populate them with custom models, and set their new cities - whether ancient, cosmic, or differentiated in thousands of other ways from the original frosty-apocalypse setting - against custom scenarios."

FrostKit will be available in its beta version when Frostpunk 2 is released on September 20. It may be subject to changes after that but the idea is to provide players with an efficient tool to create their own experiences in the game and offer more ways of enjoying the thrill of surviving in the aftermath of a frozen apocalypse.
