Elden Ring showcases Bandit and Astrologer classes

Elden Ring showcases Bandit and Astrologer classes

We’ve previously seen Elden Ring reveal details about classes such as the Warrior, the Prisoner, the Vagabond and the Hero. Now come two more classes for players to consider starting with: the Bandit and the Astrologer.

Stealth and magic

The Bandit comes across as a rogue type who ambushes enemies from stealth, and likely from afar. They seem to be adept with the bow more than any other class, which is important as archery in Elden Ring seems to be far more effective than in any previous FromSoftware game. Stealth and surprise will be its most powerful tactic, a mechanic present in Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice. Pretty handy skills for someone who steals for a living.

Meanwhile, the other new class is the Astrologer, said to be the “heir to the school of glintstone sorcery,” yet another magic class like the Prophet and the Prisoner. It’s possible that the Astrologer will have the ability to craft spells in a manner not seen in previous FromSoftware games. Up till now, Elden Ring has been decidedly heavy with the melee type of classes. Thankfully, we are seeing some more representation from the magic classes. One wonders though: could the Wretch also be a magic class?

With this, the only classes yet to be revealed are the Wretch and the Samurai. We’ll likely hear more about them in the next couple of days.

The reactions to Elden Ring so far have been overwhelmingly positive, with game writer George R.R. Martin himself saying that the game looks “incredible.” Thankfully, with Elden Ring gone gold and only days away from release, it won't be that long until we see it for ourselves.
