Released in 2017 on PC, Playstation 4 and Xbox One, Divinity Original Sin II was eagerly awaited by the players. Faced with the success of the first game, Larian Studios managed the feat of raising $ 500,000 from
While Divinity Original Sin II - Definitive Edition was released on Nintendo Switch on September 4th, the Belgian studio has just completed a unique feat of its kind. Announced on the occasion of the release of the game on Switch, the cross-save between Switch and Steam is now available. It simply means that if you own the game on both Nintendo Switch and Steam, you can sync your backups and play the same game on both platforms. Larian has explained how to proceed, and it's quite simple. Once you have downloaded the game to your console, you will be asked if you want to link your Steam account. The cross-save system uses the cloud, the process works both ways, and you will not have to do anything else. So you can play on PC and resume playing where you left it on Switch, and vice versa. To enjoy the cross
This is certainly a first, and it's quite understandable because it should not have been a trivial matter for the studio that had to convince both Valve and Nintendo. We take our hat off. Larian has also published a video to announce the news, which illustrates with humor the fighting of the studio to accomplish this project. We see its founder Swen Vincke embarking on a quest to raid Valve and recover the backup files of Divinity Original Sin II.
Larian Studios may have opened the door to other studios to develop cross-save systems like this one. In any case, it is a good omen to see what they are capable of, knowing that they are developing Baldur's Gate III.
