Those with experience in Total War: Warhammer games already know that Creative Assembly adds many factions to the games after launch via DLC. Not only do they bring new legendary leaders into the game, but also new mechanics, unique units, narrative campaigns, and more. After a leak last week that revealed details about the new DLC coming to Total War: Warhammer III, the studio has officially unveiled the name of the new DLC along with plenty of information about it.
Total War: Warhammer III features a wide presence of chaos forces in the form of several armies dedicated to each of the respective chaos gods and a more generic army under the command of a Daemon Prince devoted to Chaos itself. The new DLC, Champions of Chaos, adds four new legendary lords to the game. Each of these warriors is aligned to one of the Chaos Gods, and they are playable in Mortal Empires and Realm of Chaos campaigns.
The new Champions Campaign requires you to reach the ancient city of Zanbaijin in order to claim the myriad of souls trapped in the Altar of Battle after countless battles between the servants of the Chaos Gods. You will have to defeat a multitude of enemies to reach your destination and perform the ritual required to free the souls from the altar. As you progress through the campaign, you will reap the souls of those that fall in battle against you and use them to unlock gifts from the gods. Manage to occupy a Dark Fortress region in the Chaos Wastes, and you will be able to construct a powerful stronghold. It will serve as your seat of power and allow you to command even more of the new units coming to Total War: Warhammer III with the Champions of Chaos DLC. These will include a wide range of marked units that you can check out in the official blog post about the expansion.
Champions of Chaos will be quite an exciting addition to Total War: Warhammer III. Azazel, the champion shown in the video above, will be accompanied by three other daemonic lords that will be revealed in the coming weeks. The DLC will become available on August 23, along with the Immortal Empires mode for all those who own the base game.
