The Gamescom opening event left us with many surprises. Perhaps the most unexpected one was a short video teasing Borderlands 4 a new installment in the popular first-person shooter franchise from Gearbox. The movie inspired by the series debuted in cinemas recently and unfortunately, its results are not as spectacular as its shooting scenes. Following the huge success of the first three Borderlands titles and their expansions, a new installment had to surface sooner or later, but this may not be exactly the best moment to announce it. However, teasing the new game has reignited the fire in the heart of many vault hunters, and now speculation about Borderlands 4 is running rife.

More than it seems at first glance

In such a scenario, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has raised the hype for Borderlands 4 with a series of posts on X where he claims that the video teasing the game is full of secrets. Immediately after, the fans of Borderlands started analyzing the video frame by frame, and many theories have appeared online. From trying to decipher the glyphs to guessing who is the owner of the face that appears in the symbol, there are as many theories as people trying to come up with a clever interpretation of every element in the video.

Will Handsome Jack return in Borderlands 4? Is the moon that appears in the video Elpis, Pandora's satellite? Will players experience another zero-gravity adventure like in Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel? There are many questions that still need an official answer, but it seems that Randy Pitchford likes this hide-and-seek game and he is even commenting on some of the fans' ideas on X. It won't be until Gearbox decides to officially reveal Borderlands 4 that we will know for sure what's going on behind the scenes.
