Cheating doesn’t pay, at least when it comes to Call of Duty: Vanguard and all previous CoD games. Activision has announced via an update to their security system Ricochet that repeat violators of its no-cheating policy will be permanently banned from every Call of Duty game ever made and will be made.
Halo Infinite multiplayer, which launched *looks at watch* about 2.5 hours ago, has already surpassed 162k peak concurrent users on Steam.

This makes it the most successful Xbox Game Studios title of all time on Steam

This happens just days away from the upcoming Call of Duty: Warzone update, and notably, coincides with Amazon Games’s permabanning 1,200 gold cheaters from New World.
Ricochet is the kernel-level anti-cheating system that Activision announced back in October. Server updates have already gone live with the launch of Call of Duty: Vanguard, with the kernel driver launching in December along with Call of Duty: Warzone’s Pacific Map.
Per the Ricochet update:
"Extreme or repeated violations of the security policy—such as in-game cheating—may result in a permanent suspension of all accounts," Activision said. "Additionally, any attempt to hide, disguise, or obfuscate your identity or the identity of your hardware devices may also result in a permanent suspension."
"Permanent suspensions for security infractions may now apply franchise wide, including Call of Duty: Vanguard as well as any past, present, and future titles in the Call of Duty franchise."
Cheating has been a widespread problem for Call of Duty for a long while, such that streamers have repeatedly called out Activision to do something about the matter or risk losing their player base. This appears to be Activision’s response. Clearly, using aimbots isn’t worth the risk of a perma-ban from every CoD game.
In any case, these measures are meant to protect the experience of CoD for other players. The rest of us who don’t use underhanded means to destroy fellow players don’t have to worry about these strict measures and can keep playing to our hearts’ content.
