Indie games are great because of their continuous updates and openness to crossovers, like with Dead Cells crossing over with the likes of Hollow Knight, Blasphemous, Hyper Light Drifter, Guacamelee, Skul: The Hero Slayer, and Curse of the Dead Gods. Now, Aurora from Child of Light is getting the same treatment, becoming the final playable character in Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night.
Bloodstained: Ritual of the Night is a platformer that more than pays homage to the legendary Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. In a free update to version 1.30, Child of Light heroine Aurora joins Miriam, Zangetsu, and Bloodless as the latest player character to explore Bloodstained’s cursed castle.
According to developer ArtPlay, "Aurora has lost her way and awoken in a strange, dangerous new land. Armed with the Sword of Matildis and accompanied by the loyal Igniculus, she must find a way to escape."
Aurora brings along her sword and her companion, Igniculus the light wisp, who can heal her and slow down foes. She can also use her directional Light Ray to shoot at multiple enemies caught in its beam.
What’s more, Aurora can grow her power by defeating enemies and collecting Shards from them. Johannes can also upgrade her abilities, just like with Miriam. Finally, defeating certain bosses lets Aurora grow more mature, unlocking new movement abilities that will let her explore more of the castle.
Bloodstained version 1.30 is available now for PlayStation, Xbox, and PC. The new update will arrive on Switch soon.
