It's that time again for a giveaway on the Epic Games Store. The new promotion replaces last week's free Cat Quest II. Now, PC gamers can claim River City Girls as this week's free title. As always, you have a week to permanently add this latest game to your collection.
Created by WayForward and launched in 2019, River City Girls is a beat 'em up game featuring two protagonists, Misako and Kyoko, who are on a mission to save their boyfriends, Kunio and Riki. The game showcases a retro-inspired 16-bit graphic style, complete with anime-style cutscenes that advance the narrative between levels. Local two-player co-op mode is also available.
Similar to other arcade-style side-scrolling games, combat consists of combos, counters, throws, and special moves, alongside weapons and items to inflict additional damage. Players even have the ability to recruit defeated foes as temporary partners. Over time, the two girls can level up, unlocking new abilities to tackle the rising difficulty.
River City Girls can now be claimed for free on the Epic Games Store. This game typically retails for $29.99 / 26,99 € when not on sale, but you can now keep it without spending a cent. Additionally, anyone playing the free game Idle Champions of the Forgotten Realms via the Epic Games Store will receive a valuable bonus pack until Thursday.
Alongside the mentioned offers, Arcadegeddon and 5,000 in-game Arcoins are also available on the Epic Games Store this week. While the former is free-to-play, the latter provides a value of $20 / 18 €, according to the EGS.
The next giveaway on the store is expected to begin on April 17. As always, be sure to use our comparator to find the best deals on your soon-to-be favorite games.
