Fans received a pleasant surprise when Amazon Italy apparently leaked the character roster for the upcoming Mortal Kombat 1, and it confirms several rumors about who is showing up.
If you haven’t seen it yet, check out the Mortal Kombat 1 trailer here:
Mortal Kombat 1 will see a reboot after the newly crowned Fire God Liu Kang created a new universe that resets the MK timeline. We expected to see both familiar faces as well as guests from other realities, and that's exactly what we're getting.
The leak comes from the Amazon Italy listing for the Mortal Kombat 1 Premium Edition, which names six characters that will show up in the first Kombat Pack. Three of those listed are returning fighters: Quan Chi, Ermac, and Takeda. The other three are new to the franchise: Peacemaker from the DC film The Suicide Squad; Homelander from the Amazon TV series The Boys, and Omni Man from the Invincible animated series, also from Amazon Prime.
Peacemaker and Homelander have already been rumored to appear months ahead of MK1’s announcement, but Omniman is a new and appropriately brutal addition to the franchise.
That’s not all, though. The same Kombat pack will include five Kameo fighters: Johnny Cage, Khameleon, Ferra, Mavado, and Tremor. As previously mentioned, Kameo fighters assist your primary character during a match. Johnny Cage will even be getting a Jean Claude Van Damme skin—a reference to Cage being based on Van Damme.
The listing has since been modified to remove the aforementioned characters, but the internet has already taken note.
Speaking of the Premium edition, there are three in all for Mortal Kombat 1. The Standard Edition contains the base game and its pre-order bonus. The Premium Edition includes the Kombat Pack with the fighters listed above and 1,250 Dragon Krystals—an in-game currency for microtransactions. The Kollector’s Edition will have the Premium Edition’s bonuses, a 16.5-inch Liu Kang statue, a new Liu Kang skin, three art prints, a steel case, and 1,450 additional Dragon Krystals.
Pre-ordering any edition will get Shang Tsung as a playable character and the opportunity to join the beta test this August. Pre-ordering the Premium or Kollector's Edition will let you play the game four days ahead of everyone else, on September 14.
Pre-orders are available right now. If you’re looking to do so, check out the price listings for a Mortal Kombat 1 PS5 code from our comparator.
