Yakuza: Like a Dragon may be released on Steam

Although the seventh installment in the Yakuza series was launched in January in Japan, many fans are still waiting for its release in the West. There is no information about a launch date for PlayStation 4 outside of Japan yet, but quite surprisingly Yakuza: Like a Dragon has appeared listed on SteamDB, a site that tracks games on Valve's platform. That could mean that the game is coming to Steam this year, although that would be quite unexpected since everyone assumed that it was exclusive to PlayStation 4. As you can imagine, there is no official confirmation so far but it would be a great addition to the list of Yakuza games present in the platform, which already includes Yakuza 0, Yakuza Kiwami, and Yakuza Kiwami 2.

Yakuza: Like a Dragon won't continue the story of Kazuma Kiryu and it leaves the Tokyo area to focus on Yokohama and Ichiban Kasuga, a member of Tojo Clan's Arakawa Family who goes to jail for a murder he didn't commit. The patriarch of the clan orders him to do so and he gladly accepts thinking that his deed will be recognized later, but when he leaves prison eighteen years later, he finds out that nobody remembers him. After facing the clan leader, he ends being shot and abandoned to die.

On the gameplay side, Yakuza: Like a Dragon is still an adventure that includes a lot of mini-games but it will bring a huge change to the license when it comes to the combat system. Instead of a real-time action-based combat system, the game features turn-based combat with a system that reminisces of classic role-playing games.

Whether you are a newcomer to the Yakuza series or an experienced fan, Yakuza: Like a Dragon will offer you a completely new experience when it's released this year, no matter what platform you use to play it.
