With coronavirus spreading through the world at a devastating rate, the consequences of the crisis are starting to translate into the delay or cancelation of events and the release of video games. Even those whose launch date was very close are suffering from this, and this is is the case of Wasteland 3, which was scheduled for a release on May 29th. Brian Fargo, Studio Head at inXile entertainment, has announced that their upcoming project won't be available at the intended date as a result of the logistic challenges caused by the current situation.
The official launch date for Wasteland 3 has been moved to August 28, 2020. The studio hopes that a few months more will be more than enough to finish polishing the game, make proper use of all the feedback they have received during the recent beta and optimize the final product so it delivers to the players the experience they want.
We’re in a great position with both Microsoft and Deep Silver supporting our desire to ensure the game launches in the best possible circumstances and to add a few extra months to ensure this is a stellar product on day one.
Although this is an undesirable situation for all those players that are eagerly waiting to play Wasteland 3, the delay of the launch is quite understandable given the current circumstances. It is something that we will probably see happening to many other games in the following weeks and we can only hope for things to get better as soon as possible.
Wasteland 3 is the latest installment in the series and it will put you in control of a squad of Desert Rangers that will have to help to reestablish order in post-apocalyptic Colorado. You will build your own base, recruit some new members for your team, and take on different missions as you follow the story.
