MechWarrior 5's first DLC has been to add more content

The tabletop game from FASA corporation Battletech has been the inspiration for quite a few games. They are divided between two genres mainly. While Harebrained Schemes' Battletech gives you full control of a mercenary company and challenges you with strategic turn-based battles, Piranha Games has taken a totally different approach to the license with MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries by allowing you sit in the cockpit of a huge battlemech and pilot it in thrilling first-person combats. Set in the final stage of the Third Succession War, MechWarrior 5: Mercenaries follows the story of a rookie mercenary who is tasked with restoring a mercenary unit on the verge of disappearing to its former glory. In the campaign you will take contracts from the different factions in the Inner Sphere as the Clan Invasion from 3049 approaches.

With plenty of battlemechs to pilot and customize however you choose, MechWarrior 5 is a challenging game where your piloting and shooting skills are far more important than the tonnage of your Mech. The game was launched in December and since then a lot of players have been trying to progress as mercenary leaders. To expand the content in MechWarrior 5, Piranha Games announced the release of the Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC. Its launch was scheduled for June but it seems that the developers have decided to include an enhanced career mode in the DLC and it won't be ready in time.

It’s unlikely that we’ll be releasing the enhanced career mode DLC in the first half of this year. Rest assured, the team is hard at work making an even more expansive career mode, with even more mechs, weapons, equipment, missions, biomes and some surprises we hope you’ll like.

Although the delay is definitely undesired, the addition of more content should be enough to compensate MechWarrior 5 players for it. Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC will come with new features including a new career mode with 5 different development paths for your character, an expanded Inner Sphere map with more warzones, industrial hubs, and quest lines, 7 story-driven Hero Quests, 7 new chassis and plenty of new equipment and weapons for you to customize your Mechs.

The only downside to all these additions is that no release date has been confirmed for the launch of the Heroes of the Inner Sphere DLC, so if you are playing Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries already you will have to stick to the base content for a while longer.
