Call of Duty: Activision announces a new game for 2020

Created in 2003 by Infinity Ward and with more than twenty games published on the whole series, Call of Duty is undoubtedly the most popular shooter license.

Each installment has sold millions of copies, including the last one, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare, which has sold more than 20 million.

More precisely, speaking of figures, Activision Blizzard has revealed its financial results for the year 2019, and the opportunity has also served to address investors and reveal what is coming this year. Although the results are slightly lower compared to 2018, it still seems that 2020 will be interesting on the side of Call of Duty. Here is what the COO of Activision Coddyy Johnson said:

“The franchise has never been better positioned for growth and there’s more to come, including entirely new experiences within the Modern Warfare universe and then of course, in Q4 this year, a new premium Call of Duty release which is already generating excitement in our playtests.”

Therefore, we will have a successor to Call of Duty: Modern Warfare at the end of 2020, and it should be available for the next generation of consoles. This is all that has been revealed about this new installment for the moment, but some rumors are already circulating. Rumor has it that Treyarch would be in charge of the game and that the next game will be part of the Black Ops series. Obviously all this remains to be taken with a pinch of salt until official confirmation has been given.

In any case, if the next installment in the Call of Duty series is scheduled for the end of the year, it is likely that it will be part of the catalog of games for the launch of the PS5 and the Xbox Series X.
