Japan is changing after centuries of autarky. However, the forces of the country are not in agreement about the relationship that the nation must maintain with the West, which will cause a civil war that will make thousands of deaths. This time you will take part in the famous Boshin War which began in 1868 under Emperor Meiji, who faced the armies of the clans of Satsuma, Choshu, and Tosa against the Edo Shogun government forces.

The end of the samurai is an add-on, the game mechanics are not changed and the gameplay is still a real-time strategy turn-based style game. You can choose between 10 different clans: Saga, Tosa, Choshu, Tsu, Aizu, Sendai, Jozai, Satsuma, Nagaoka, and Obama. Each clan will obviously be under control of the Shogun in place or his deputy. The graphics have been refined which will not leave you indifferent. You will also have access to a third-person view, naval battles, and large weapons which actually strengthens the degree of immersion.
