In Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven, the story revolves around the return of the Seven Heroes, once hailed as saviours but now seeking revenge after being banished for their immense power. As the ruler of the Empire of Varennes, players defend their legacy across generations, expand their realm, and confront the vengeful Seven Heroes.

The game offers over 30 different character classes with unique abilities and tactics, allowing players to choose the next Emperor from a diverse pool of candidates. Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven features strategic turn-based battles with the classic system as a foundation. The combat system allows players to use Glimmers and Formations to turn the tides of the battle and introduces a new United Attack feature that lets players unleash powerful combination attacks.

On the graphics side, Romancing SaGa 2: Revenge of the Seven features full 3D graphics but maintains the classic art style.
