Behind every great fortune there is a great crime, and you get to prove it in City of Gangsters. In this strategy and management game where you play as the head of a crime syndicate, you grow your organization from a small group of hoods to a powerful crime family with an interest in every business in the city — especially illegal ones.
It’s the 1920s at the start of Prohibition. It’s bad business for a lot of bars and breweries, but a big opportunity for you. Put up a front with a secret speakeasy and a moonshine distillery at the back and you’ll be making tons of money in no time. You can also smuggle imported alcohol from elsewhere, just keep it hiden from the cops.
When you have the money, you can start hiring muscle. Have armed goons ready to protect your business from greedy rivals. Build a network and bribe the cops so they look the other way. Intimidate civilians or protect them to earn their loyalty — it’s all up to you, boss. As you territory grows, more money comes to you as people ask for protection.
You have to make a lot of cash in the next few years because Prohibition ends in 1933 and that also marks the end of illegal speakeasies.
City of Gangsters is a game of risk and reward: if you're going to make a lot of money, you'll have to break a lot of laws.
