Emily is Away <3 is a point-and-click visual novel that brings back memories of one’s first social media account, long before anyone had any idea what social media would turn into. The year is 2008 and you have just joined a social media site called Facenook. The story follows your relationships with your high school friends online during your senior year. Most importantly, you will follow two main paths as you choose between two possible love interests: Emily, or her ex-best friend, Evelyn.
What follows is a rollercoaster of emotions as you attempt to navigate through the highs and lows of teenage life and complicated relationships. Just like with the original Emily is Away, you follow one of several branching paths, each with its own unique conversations. Your choices will determine what ending you’ll have.
And to complete the nostalgic feel of that era, Facenook is a loving recreation of early Facebook’s design. You’ll see low-res member profiles, a white background with a menu at the bottom, advertisements on the sidebar. You can even poke members, invite them to be friends, play games with them, and show them videos from YouToob.
