It's the year 878 AD and his majesty Alfred the Great, King of the Anglo-Saxons embarks on a quest defend his territories from a Viking invasion coming from the north, while he tries to unify the land under his banner. But he isn´t the only king within the British Isles, and this event marks the start of an era of change, opportunities, treaties, and war, that will shape the future of one of history's greatest nations. Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia is a standalone game that focuses on a specific moment in the history of modern Britain. You will have to choose between ten different playable factions, split evenly among five cultures, including Anglo-Saxons, Viking settlers, Gaelic clans, and Welsh tribes. Each faction has its own ruler and they will each face a series of unique events and branching dilemmas, often based on authentic historical events and issues of the time, that will have an impact on how their story unfolds.
On the gameplay side, Total War Saga: Thrones of Britannia follows the classic gameplay of the Total War series but at the same time it improves some of the core mechanics, bringing changes to the way provinces, politics, technologies, recruitment and some other areas work, and managing to make your experience more immersive and meaningful.
